A blank wall in our kitchen had been staring at me for a while, waiting for the perfect touch. I wanted something personal, timeless, and cohesive with the rest of our home. That’s when I found the perfect solution—a set of 12x12 matted black picture frames that turned an empty space into a meaningful display of the people we love most.
Instead of filling the frames with just pictures of us, we chose to print a mix of black and white photos featuring our family, too. It’s a great conversation starter because we’re not in every picture, making it feel like a true tribute to the people who mean the most to us. The black and white tones create a cohesive, sophisticated look that blends seamlessly into any aesthetic.
To keep things clean and polished, we arranged the frames in a perfect grid. The symmetry makes the wall feel intentional and structured, adding just the right amount of visual interest to our kitchen. Hanging them evenly took a little patience, but using nails helped secure them in place. Since some of the frames were lower to the ground (hello, little hands!), we added museum putty to the backs to keep them from shifting or getting knocked off.
What I love most about these frames is that they came as a set of nine, making it easy to create a statement wall without searching for individual matching pieces. The quality has held up beautifully over the last four years—no warping, no fading, just clean, classic lines that still look as good as the day we hung them. And since our home already has black accents throughout, they blended in seamlessly without feeling out of place.
If you have a blank wall that needs some love, this is such an easy and impactful way to personalize your space. Highlighting family in a clean, modern way has made our kitchen feel even more like home. And the best part? Black and white photos ensure the display remains timeless, no matter how your decor evolves.
